| Source: Tektronix Tektronix Creates World’s First Test Cookbook for New UWB WiMedia 1.2 SpecificationNew MOI and Tektronix UWB Analysis Software for WiMedia PHY Test Specification Version 1.2 Release; Total Test Solution Performs UWB WiMedia Signal Generation and Analysis Beaverton, Ore., May 19, 2008 - Tektronix, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced it had created the world’s first Methods of Implementation (MOI) for the new Ultra-Wideband (UWB) WiMedia PHY Test Specification Version 1.2 and released a new version of UWB Analysis software for DSA/DPO70000 series oscilloscopes that provides additional measurements for UWB WiMedia 1.2 www.tek.com/wimedia. With the new WiMedia PHY Test Specification Version 1.2 adding more receiver testing, the Tektronix AWG7102 Arbitrary Waveform Generator and RFXpress signal creation software are the best choices for engineers working with v1.0 and v1.2 and planning for v1.5. Transmitter Analysis UWB Analysis is augmented by the features of the world’s highest performing real-time oscilloscope and provides the specific modulation and spectral analysis for WiMedia Version 1.2. This is especially useful for engineers designing, testing and integrating UWB radios into Certified Wireless USB, next generation Bluetooth, and other industry consumer and computer applications. The Tektronix MOI covers the new v1.2 requirements for receiver testing. With RFXpress software running on the AWG7102 provides an efficient way of creating compliant and non-compliant WiMedia waveforms for all bandgroups, data rates and both hopping - Time Frequency Interleaving (TFI) and Time Frequency Interleaving over 2 Bands (TFI2) - and non hopping - Fixed Frequency Interleaving (FFI) - Time Frequency Codes. This enables WiMedia designers and validation engineers to improve the reliability of their designs. With 20GS/s sampling technology engineers can create signals in bandgroups 1 and 2 that are generated directly from the AWG7102 without the need for an external I/Q modulator. For the higher frequency bandgroups the AWG7102 provides added flexibility by enabling waveform creation through either I/Q modulation or less expensive mixing tools. The AWG7102 arbitrary waveform generator provides comprehensive WiMedia signal generation support for MAC and PHY layers. Leading Test Bench for UWB WiMedia Tektronix offers a leading Digital RF test bench for WiMedia and other UWB applications with an industry best combination of hardware and software. The new WiMedia MOI offers a step by step test methodology for the new Ultra-Wideband (UWB) WiMedia PHY Test Specification Version 1.2 release. For transmitter testing, UWB Analysis software combined with the DSA72004 oscilloscope offers the widest bandwidth, fastest rise time and lowest noise density that enables users to capture and analyze UWB signals with higher accuracy than competitive instruments. Additionally, the AWG7102 arbitrary waveform generator is the only instrument on the market today that can recreate both non-hopping (FFI) and hopping (TFI and TFI2) signals for WiMedia applications and develop and prepare for future device requirements for Detect and Avoid (DAA) technologies. RFXpress software on the AWG7102 enables engineers to create UWB signals quickly and easily to improve the reliability of their designs. About Tektronix
