Advertising and Lead Generation Specifications

Run of Site Web Banner Advertising:
For 2010 Techfocus Media has added a number of new, larger ad sizes (including video ads) and has optimized ad placements for higher visibility and an improved audience experience.
Major Changes include:
- flexible ad zones - most ad sizes appear on all pages
- better integration of content and advertising space
- all ads are now IAB standard specifications
- enhanced support for third-party ad serving and tracking
- geo-targeting available - target specific ads/campaigns to specific countries, or use different creative (and different languages) to target different countries within a single campaign.

Run of Site Banner Sizes and locations: (see Advertising Sizes and Placements for a picture)
Masthead:
- Full Banner (new) [468x60] * (Upper right corner of all pages)

Content Areas:
- Video Banner Ad (new) [up to 340x285, video must be remotely hosted on Vimeo, YouTube, Accela, or another approved service] *
- Half Page Ad (new) [300x600] **
- Large Rectangle (new) [336x280] *
- Medium Rectangle (new) [300x250] *
- Wide Skyscraper [160x600] **
- 3:1 Banner (new) [300x100] *
- Run of site text (new) [500 characters or less] *

Footer:
- Leaderboard [728x90] * (bottom of all pages)

* Ad type appears on all non-sponsored pages of the site including front page, articles, news stories, article index, news index, on demand index, search results.
** Note - "tall" ads (half page, wide skyscraper) do not appear on the front page, but do appear on all other pages listed above.

All banner ads should conform to IAB standards:
All Run-of-site web banners (except video ads) must be .jpg, .gif, or Flash(.swf)
Flash Ads (.swf) require a backup .jpg or .gif image for non-flash enabled browsers, and must follow MFAA clickTAG guidelines:

QuickPicks (newsletters):
For 2010 newsletter sponsorships have been renamed "QuickPicks"
Major changes include:
- inclusion of run-of-site web advertising (using the same creative assets) for increased audience reach
- standardization of banner types to IAB standards
- Four ad placements in each newsletter instead of two
- Increased distribution of e-mail newsletters from 2009
1. For each Quick Pick sponsorship, we require the following materials:
- Full Banner Ad (for the upper right location in the e-mail newsletter, and the upper right location on all pages of the website)
- Leaderboard banner ad (for the bottom footer location in the e-mail newsletter, and the bottom footer location on all pages of the website)
- Large Rectangle Ad (for the main content area of the e-mail newsletter, and the main content area of all pages of the website)
- Text link [500 characters or less] (for the "announcements" section of the e-mail newsletter and the main content area of all pages of the website)
* for Quick Pick sponsorships - all banner ads must be .jpg or .gif (rich media is not supported in e-mail).  Flash (.swf) may be supplied for web use as long as there is an accompanying .jpg or .gif image as a backup for non-flash-enabled browsers.
** each of the four assets above should meet IAB banner ad standards
*** each of the four assets above requires a target URL for click-thrus
**** for flash ads, please follow MFAA clickTAG specifications for click tracking

Turbo TextLinks (monthly)

For 2010, we are excited to introduce new Turbo TextLinks - short text messages that combine the power of web, e-mail, RSS, and social media.
Turbo TextLinks must be 110 characters or less, including a "shortened" URL from a service like bit.ly
(the 110 character limit is to allow the message to meet the specifications of Twitter, including margin for "Re-Tweeting" and attribution without message or link truncation.)
Each Turbo TextLink will appear:
- in 4 consecutive issues of the selected publication's weekly e-mail newsletter
- 3000 AdViews (run-of-site) on the selected publication's website over a one-month period
- blasted to the selected publication's twitter feed
- on the selected publication's facebook fan page
- in the selected publication's RSS feed

Journal On Demand Sponsorship:
For 2010, we are excited to introduce Journal On Demand - an education and lead generation center that allows sponsors to make a wide variety of assets available to our audience, and to use those assets for lead generation, education, and awareness.  Included in On Demand sponsorships is hosting and indexing of assets, significant promotion, high branding visibility, lead and interaction tracking, and "smart microsite" asset landing pages.  Assets that may be placed in the Journal On Demand library include webcasts, videos, white papers, demos, tutorials, application notes, and more...
1. To begin your Journal On Demand sponsorship, we require the following materials: (only one set of these is required for the entire year, but they may be changed any time you wish - up to once per week).  
- Full Banner Ad (for upper right masthead location on all assets)
- Leaderboard banner Ad(for bottom footer location on all assets)
- Button1 banner Ad (for bottom right corner of all assets)
- Right Column banner Ad(for insertion into right column of all assets - can be HP, LR, MR, 3:1, WS)
- Company logo
The banner ads can be promoting anything you like.  They will show up on the info page for each asset you post in your Journal On Demand area.
2. Next, you may submit up to 30 assets to get started, and then a maximum of 10 new assets per month to add to your Journal On Demand area:
PROMTIONAL MATERIALS (Public - visible by all site visitors):
For each individual asset submitted (white paper, webcast link, video link, online demo, app note, tutorial, datasheet, etc.):
(Required) Title
(Required) Short abstract (less than 500 characters to be used in promotional listings - think of this as a text ad for your asset to entice people to view it)
(Required) Long abstract (less than 500 words to be used on the info page for this asset)
(Optional) Author/speaker info:
- name
- title
- brief  bio (<100 words)
- headshot
(Optional) Large Rectangle ad banner .jpg, .gif, or .swf (with .gif/.jpg backup) promoting this asset. (for an extra charge, this ad can be used for additional promotion for the asset - run-of-site in the "on demand" banner zones, or featured in the "on demand" section of weekly newsletters.
All of the above information will be visible to ALL site visitors  
ASSET (Private - visible only by registered users):
The actual asset can be any of:
- documents  (white papers, app notes, datasheets, etc.): .pdf files
- streaming media (webcasts, videos, demos, etc.): URL of asset hosted at another location, or html for "in place" playback.
The ASSET will only be visible to registered On Demand viewers.
All materials for each asset should be submitted together, in a single e-mail to adcopy@techfocusmedia.com.  It takes 1-2 working days for an asset to be posted on the site.
3. You may designate 2 of your assets as "featured."  You may change your "featured" assets as often as you like (up to once per week).
 - "featured" assets are promoted on the front page of your selected websites, in regular weekly newsletters, and in special "Journal On Demand" newsletters.
